About Me
As we all know, many public school teachers often have no other choice but to seek additional employment. During my six years of teaching English as a Second Language, I also engaged in freelance writing and editing for local magazines and publications, maintained my own blog, and took on ghostwriting projects for businesses. One of my favorite side jobs was working as an administrative assistant for two local entrepreneurs, where I helped coordinate travel, meetings, and various organizational tasks to simplify their lives.
When the magazine I was contributing to offered me an editing position, I took it as a sign to boldly transition into a career focused on writing and editing.
As the Editor in Chief of Refined Magazine, along with my role as Assistant Editor for 614 Magazine and Stock & Barrel, I oversee the production of one monthly and two quarterly magazines that highlight the best of Columbus, OH, including its food, beverages, and remarkable people. Additionally, I help create a daily newsletter for the hundreds of thousands of 614Now email subscribers, keeping them updated on local happenings from Monday to Saturday.
However, I do have interests beyond writing and editing! When my finger's off the pulse (which is a rare occurrence), I enjoy visiting the restaurants, bars, and cafes I write about. I also love traveling, immersing myself in new cultures, reading classic literature (currently, I'm captivated by Ernaux and Babitz!), exploring beauty and fashion trends, attending local film screenings, volunteering, and walking my blind and deaf dachshunds in my local parks.
“I write entirely to find out what I'm thinking, what I'm looking at, what I see, and what it means. What I want, and what I fear.”
